We spent a wonderful weekend in Pajaro Dunes for Aunt Luana’s 80th birthday celebration. Arriving bright and early on Saturday, we were treated to a beautiful beach house with an amazing full view of the beach and ocean. The morning started a bit overcast, but soon cleared out to breezy blue skies.
We walked the beach, collected shells, visited, played games, did a little homework (poor Rebecca and Tressa), enjoyed good food (thanks for the barbeque Willy), shared photos, sat on the large deck and took in the view, read, loved being with family, saw whales, ate cake, and ended the day with a relaxing soak in the hot tub!
Aunt Luana opened her gift from Janet, filled with 80 years of memories and love. Everyone enjoyed a slide show of the photos, too. I took one last walk on the beach for the day, and Willy barbequed. Dinner was yummy, more gifts, and cake!
Before everyone started leaving, we took some group photos.
Rebecca and I stayed the night! Such a treat! The girls roasted marshmallows (on the stove), we did the hot tub, and went to sleep to the sound of the ocean!
Sunday morning, Kalisha and I went for a long walk on the beach. Were as all we found yesterday were mostly broken shells and sand dollars, today we found lots and lots, and many of them were still alive! Kalisha heroically and gently put them back in the ocean, and we kept finding them, and finding them.
Speaking of breakfast, we headed back for some of our own. I had also brought jars for everyone to take home a little memory of the weekend. A little sand, a few shells, and voila, instant memories!
Before we headed out, I made sure there was time for a few last shots on the beach…
What a wonderful, special weekend. It was so good to see everyone. Aunt Luana, Pam, Janet and her girls, Kalisha, Mariella, and Tressa, Hennessey and her boys, Mariano and Alonzo, David and Nancy, Willy and Jon, Mom and Daddy, and of course, Rebecca and I were there, too.
We have to go this again……. Goodbye for now!
